Coaching Development in Wales

An Overview

Coaching Survey

To All Active Coaches Please can all coaches complete this on-line survey. This survey should take less than one minute to complete but will provide us with valuable information to ensure you are kept up-to-date with upcoming coaching CPD workshops as well as trying to tailor them to your requests. Once completing can you please also encourage anyone else actively coaching within your club to complete it. If you have any questions regarding the survey please contact coaching@welshrowing.com.

Coaching development in Wales is overseen by the coaching development committee, with representatives from each of the rowing regions of Wales.

The role of the committee is to develop coaching and coaches in Wales.

This is to be done by:

  1. Identifying and recruiting coaches
  2. Raising awareness and identify opportunities for coach educators
  3. Promoting courses and workshops
  4. Providing support to the coaching community
  5. Updating clubs and coaches of best practice and regulations
  6. Providing information for a coaching database
  7. Managing UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) budget for coach development
  8. Contributing to and review of the Coaching Plan for Wales

Support for coaches is carried out by your local coaching representative.  Coaching representatives can be contacted using the contacts on the Committee page.

Coach Education

Coach Education is intended to develop the coaching workforce in Wales by organising UKCC courses, regional workshops and preparing candidates for level 2 and level 3 UKCC courses.

If you wish to find out how to register for a course or would like information on coaching and courses running in your area or nationally, contact the Coaching Coordinator using the contact details here.

Important Note Regarding Those Who Have Recently Undertaken UKCC Level 2

If you have undertaken your UKCC level 2 coaching certificate within the last 2 years it is recommended that you try and arrange your assessment sooner rather than later and well before the course times out (2 years from start of course). With the summer ending and winter approaching the light in the evenings is reducing so there are fewer opportunities for coaching and it’s advisable to get your assessment done before the weather turns. To be sign posted to an assessor or to check that your course is still in date if you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to enquire through coaching@welshrowing.com.
